When Pigs Fly!

That was my answer when asked when I would become Exalted Ruler. Well,
I thought about it for awhile and then said yes. I have not regretted
a single moment since. few years ago that is what Chuck Cornwell and Mike
Moore said about reuniting their musical duo. We have managed to get them
to agree to play at our Lodge on August 14th for one special night! Be
here early for wings and the once in a lifetime reunion of two very talented
local musicians!

| The Family Picnic is this Sunday. I hope you will stop by
the Resar’s and visit! We have free food, beer, cornhole games, a swimming
pool with a lifeguard, Dj, karaoke plus entertainment and games for the
children. Tribe Night will be on Tuesday, August 12th. On Friday, August
22nd we will have Karaoke Night. Football season kicks off with a tailgate
party and cornhole games for the Browns on August 23rd, and a couple of
Ohio State parties also are planned. |

| I need to mention a few things about last month. July started
off with a bang as a group of us went to the grand lodge Convection. It
was a pleasure and an honor to be at the Installation of Red Kehler as he
became our new DDGER for the upcoming year. Our own Lee Young was also installed
as a Grand Lodge Committeeman and our Lodge was awarded a plaque for highest
per capita donations for the Elks National Foundation. The rest of the trip
had a few other memorable moments as well, like watching someone who parked
in a tow away zone have their rental van towed away, and someone else get
searched and detained by airport security for trying to smuggle beer onto
an airplane! Then there was my infamous two hour boat trip that sent two
people to the hospital. |

| Other than those minor details, the trip was a huge success.
The first Pig Roast and Reverse Raffle by the Officers was another success.
This will definitely be on next year’s schedule. |

Now back to current events. We have added two new items to
the bar menu! We now have a new wine list for your dining pleasure. You
can order by the glass or bottle. We also have specialty martinis. September
6th the Roadrunner Band will bring 50/60’s music to the club. The CP
Golf Outing is set for September 14th. Please sign up to play. It will be
a great day of golf, food and friendship and we will be helping a worthy
cause. Dave Noren has put together a great package with a shotgun start
at 1:30 p.m., 18 holes of golf, a cart, a steak dinner, beer and prizes
at the Lodge afterwards, all for only $50. The Apple Festival plans the
weekend of the 19th—21st are going well. We are still looking for advertisers
and sponsors, so please help by signing up for one of the committees.
Mark your calendar for October 3rd...tickets go on sale soon for the Clambake,
with the band Shady Drive providing music. It’s not too soon to start
planning your Halloween costumes for the adult party the last weekend in
October. |

| A special thank you goes out to Kristen Barney and Vicky Donley
for their help selling raffle tickets on Tribe Nights. It has been a very
close race to see who can sell the most tickets by the end of the season. |
